EXHIBITION CENTERS
The exhibition program provides a dynamic center for the Parsons community
with exhibitions devoted to historical and contemporary themes in design,
the fine arts, and architecture. Its mission is to both enhance and
supplement the various academic programs, as well as introduce the
general public to significant works in the fields. Lectures, symposia
and publications are frequently produced in conjunction with the exhibitions.
Recently renovated as part of the new Sheila C. Johnson Center, Parsons' state-of-the-art galleries are scheduled year-round with exhibitions of work by outside artists and designers, Parsons faculty, and Parsons students. Parsons has two main street-level exhibition spaces measuring more than 6,000 square feet: the Kellen Gallery and the Arnold and Sheila Aronson Galleries. Exhibitions are curated by university staff and faculty or part of national and international traveling exhibitions.
As a venue to showcase student work, the galleries also allow students to obtain construction, installation, and presentation experience in a high-profile exhibition setting.
