Class Schedule

Junior and senior level Parsons Academy students attend classes Monday through Friday from 9 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 4 pm, with a one-hour lunch break. Elementary students may take one or two classes. They may choose to take just one course with Parsons at 9am or Jazz at 1pm or the full day with both schools. Elementary students in the full day program will have a supervised lunch hour.

Drawing Studio
Drawing is incorporated into the design disciplines or is held as a separate studio. Drawing instructors teach in collaboration with the design studio instructors and emphasize the skills relevant to the afternoon elective studios. Students will strengthen their ability to observe the world around them and translate these observations into two-dimensional images. Conceptual and technical elements of drawing are introduced.

Elective Studio
Students select one subject to explore from the list of courses. All classes include the drawing, either as a separate studio or integrated in their elective studio.

Attendance Policy

The success of Parsons Pre-College Academy is dependent on the attendance and motivation of the student body. These are short courses and each student's sense of achievement will be enhanced by attending and actively participating in the program.

It is essential that students attend class. If students are going to be absent, please contact the office at 212.229.8933 or inform the faculty.

Classes begin promptly at 9am daily. Students are always expected to be on time for class. Student participation in class is essential. Arriving late is disruptive to the entire class.

After consultation with parents and the program director, students who miss class more than two times or fail to participate in class may be asked to leave the program.
