Location and Directions
Parsons is located at 2 West 13th Street, just off of Fifth Avenue. It is easily accessible by public transportation.
Subway/PATH
Parsons is easily accessible from subway and PATH trains.
Travelers on the 4, 5, 6, N, Q ,or R, trains should exit at Union Square and walk west on 14th Street. Travelers on the 2, 3, 1, 9 trains should exit at 14th Street and walk east. F train passengers should exit at 14th Street and walk east.
Taxi
Students should instruct the cab driver to take them to Fifth Avenue and 13th Street.
Car
If you plan to drive to Parsons, there is metered and street parking in the neighborhood. There are also parking garages on 13th Street.
Drop-Off and Pick-Up Safety
- If accompanying your elementary level child to class, please escort him/her to the classroom.
- Parents who are picking up junior or senior level students are advised to use the 2 West 13th Street lobby in the Sheila Johnson Design Center as a meeting place.
- Please file contact information with the office and update the information, as necessary.
- In the event that a student will miss class, please call the office to notify us of the absence.
- If an authorized person does not arrive to pick up a student, that student will be taken to 66 Fifth Avenue, Room 200 and the emergency contact will be called.
- All parents should review with their child the safety procedure they should follow in the event of an emergency or change of plans. Be sure that your child knows how he/she should respond to an emergency.
Models
In art schools, nude models are traditionally used in drawing classes. Senior level Parsons Academy classes will
use nude models. Junior and elementary level Parsons Academy classes will use clothed models.
Out of Class Assignments
Parsons Academy generally expects students to complete short out of
class assignments to help them excel and develop faster. Faculty
members may ask students to complete a limited amount of work at
home. These assignments will help to reinforce material presented
in the classroom. If a student misses class and needs the homework
assignment, contact the office at academy@newschool.edu.
