Classes meet outdoors at locations of historic and cultural significance. Using the city
as a starting point, students utilize the landscape of Paris as a way to create and
solve visual problems. Students examine the relationships between technical skills,
conceptual ideas, and the creative decisions that they make. Museum visits and discussions
examine art and design history. This course is recommended for students who are building a
portfolio, as well as those interested in developing observational color and painting skills.
Students may wish to take Drawing in Paris, PNPA 0351 Section A, in addition to this course to build basic observational drawing skills as a foundation for the challenges of painting on-site in Paris
