This course provides a thorough introduction to various aspects of
time-based media including video, audio, and animation. With an
emphasis on storytelling and experimentation, students are taught to
apply both conceptual and technical skills to their work. Studio
assignments provide the student with a broad overview of current
technologies and historical perspectives, and students execute
projects in several different media—both analog and digital. Projects
range from traditional storyboarding and narrative shorts to
experimental animation and multi-track sound mixing. A good portion
of the course is spent out of the classroom doing fieldwork, visiting
museums, and documenting the urban landscape of NYC.
Student visas are required and must allow for full time intensive study. Please note that Canadian citizens who wish to study full time should have an I-20 upon entry to the US. Check the ISS website for more details.
