However, the approval process for each student can be lengthy, so international applicants should be prepared to work closely with International Student Services to complete documentation as quickly and carefully as possible.

Additional information will be mailed after registration. You can also direct questions to International Student Services at iss@newschool.edu or 212.229.5592. Please identify yourself as a SOPIS student.

Successful Completion Policy

In order to begin your studies in a degree program at Parsons, the Admissions Office requires that you successfully complete SOPIS. To successfully complete this program, you will need to meet the following standards:

Attendance and Participation

Students are expected to attend classes regularly and promptly and actively participate in all class and program activities. Missing one session (one three-hour class) is counted as one absence. Missing thee sessions results in a failing grade. Being late or departing early from class twice counts as one absence. After two absences in the program, students must meet with the program coordinator. Additional absences will result in a failing grade and dismissal from the program.

Grading

Students are graded on a pass/fail basis. Students must pass an exam upon completion of the course as well as pass all three components of the program, Reading/Writing, Listening/Speaking, and Language and Culture of Design. A failing grade for the program will result in unsuccessful completion and admission to Parsons will be rescinded.
