BusinessWeek has selected Parsons The New School for Design as one of the world’s top design schools for business innovation and strategy. The magazine’s second annual survey of design schools, published in the October 15, 2007, issue, highlighted Parsons’ Bachelor of Business Administration in Design and Management program, which blends design thinking and business strategy. The program offers traditional business classes as well as courses that emphasize the strategic importance of design thinking in product innovation, sustainable business models, and business creation.

An international panel of 22 design and brand consultants and academics from both business and design schools chose the schools. Six companies with expertise in design or innovation strategy were also asked to name interdisciplinary design and business programs whose curricula they think highly of and whose graduates they would be likely to hire. BusinessWeek editors conducted interviews with professors, students, and alumni from the recommended institutions, identifying design programs that incorporate business strategy and business programs that teach design as a tool for strategic advantage.

The article also noted that Parsons students in all disciplines benefit from academic projects sponsored by corporations and nonprofit organizations, from the Sierra Club to Target Stores. These projects enable students to work collaboratively on developing solutions to real-world business challenges.
