Parsons has no admissions formula. Each applicant is reviewed individually with regard to his or her own experience, achievement and potential for artistic growth. Significant consideration will also be given to academic credentials. Many applicants have had substantial art training in high school or college, while some have had little or none. While Parsons recognizes the benefits of strong artistic preparation; some applicants are admitted based on their academic strengths more than their visual material.

Parsons seeks serious, responsible and highly motivated applicants. A prospective student's potential for achievement is one of our most important admissions criteria.

For BFA applicants, a large part of the Admissions Committee's decision on your application will be based upon its evaluation of your portfolio and Parsons Challenge (link to instructions below) as well as your academic achievement and test scores (if applicable).

For BBA applicants the decision will be based upon the student's academic record, test scores (where applicable), and solution to the Parsons. In the Parsons Challenge, you will be asked to provide visual representations in addition to brief statements. While your ability to analyze and communicate verbally will be of more importance than your artistic ability, you should use your visual images to clearly express and illustrate your ideas. Please regard these representations as opportunities to explore your own creativity and a chance to document images of importance to you. Your admission will be based primarily on your academic record, writing skills, and test scores (if applicable).
