Official Transcripts: Have original, sealed copies of your official college transcripts sent to you, for submission with your application packet, or, if that is not possible, have your institution send transcripts directly to AIDL Graduate Admissions, Department of Architecture, Interior Design and Lighting. Photocopies are not acceptable.
International Records: All applicants with international transcripts are required to submit an original transcript, a certified English language translation, and a Course-By-Course Evaluation Report with their supporting materials. These course-by-course reports are prepared by World Education Services, our preferred provider, or another member of the National Association of Credit Evaluation Services (NACES). We recommend that you start the evaluation process, including submission of all required documents to WES (or another provider), as early as possible, in order to ensure the timely completion of your evaluation report. Request that your report be sent to AIDL Graduate Admissions, Department of Architecture, Interior Design and Lighting, Parsons The New School for Design, 66 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10011. (If you apply online, search for “New School Parsons” when requesting our institution.) If another provider is unable to send the report directly to the school, please collect and send the evaluation report along with a Materials Cover Sheet.
A brief resume (c.v.) including appropriate work experience, travel, exhibitions, etc., must be submitted online. List dates and
positions held.
Statement of Interest and Intentions must be submitted online.
Two letters of recommendation from faculty or people with whom the applicant has worked professionally. These may be submitted
by the references online, or, you may forward sealed references with your application packet.
Scores of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and general tests (Verbal, Quantitative, and Analytic).
If English is not an applicant’s native language, then he or she must submit results of the TOEFL exam (the Test of English as a Foreign Language). Students required to take the TOEFL exam may obtain further information from the Educational Testing Service site. Minimum score required for unqualified acceptance to the program is 620 written (260 computer based, or 105 internet based). A TOEFL score between 580 and 619 is acceptable but requires mandatory English coursework during the first year of study. A score lower than 580 written (237 computer based, or 92 internet based) is not acceptable.
A portfolio that does not exceed 9”x12” or A4. It may include drawings, photographs of projects and samples of other artwork.
All mailed materials must be accompanied by a Materials Cover Sheet(also available in the Supplemental Forms section of the online application). Do not include elaborate excess packaging. Do not include slides or digital media.
