The Parsons Career Services Office is here to provide you with advice and resources to assist you in your career search. If you have been searching for a job for a long period and need assistance, please be sure that you are making use of the following resources and recommendations:
Broaden Your Job Search
Don't limit your job search to a handful of companies, or positions. Be open to a variety of opportunities as well as relocation.
Utilize Online Resources
Be sure that you are registered on and using the Parsons online job board and that you have uploaded your portfolio and an updated resume. Employers continue to post many positions on the job board and you should be checking listings daily. Tip: don't limit your search criteria to one major, discipline, or type of position. In addition to using the job search resources offered by our office, constantly seek out and follow-up with web sites and recruiting firms that specialize in your field. Network
Remember to reach out to your network of friends, family, Parsons faculty and alumni, former supervisors, interviewers, and colleagues for job leads. Don't be too shy to connect through social networking sites such as Facebook and LinkedIn. Also, review the Career Services guide to networking fundamentals.
Make a Career Counseling Appointment
If you haven't already, make an appointment with your Parsons career advisor to discuss job search and interview strategies. Come to the appointment with your presentation materials (such as portfolio), updated and interview ready, so that we can give you feedback.
